For the whosoever??

I've been a part of the Salvation Army for all my life, grown up in it, got married in it, seen my children dedicated in it. Figured I knew what it was all about - however, seems we've introduced social profiling now, and in the name of protecting itself (which, however it might be dressed up, is the over-riding concern) the "powers that be" are now decreeing who is and isn't acceptable, and requesting those that aren't, don't attend. Jesus, apparently is for the whosoever, the army, it would appear, is slightly more choosy. Hooray for comfortable, surburban, Middle Class christianity - William Booth must be so proud.

Is this a decree from on high and a policy adopted by all?

This was written last night, when I was a tad het-up. However, sentiment remains the same, I think the day the army starts writing to people telling them, in effect, that they're not welcome to attend, it is setting a VERY dangerous precedent, and not one I'm sure I want to be part of.

So not a decree from on high amd a policy adopted by all then!!!!!

Well, the decree came from someone reasonably high, probably on the instruction of someone higher, and is very explicit in it's instruction that it applies to all army corps, so could be construed as adopted by all.

"Could be", but as a fellow salvationist, you know as well as I do, that despite the 'institution', we are a church of individuals who all have our own faith and our own views.

I want to agree with Estelle, it can only be made what Jesus wants it to be by those within. At the same time a plea for biblical accuracy. The idea of Jesus going round conducting some kind of love-fest is quite inaccurate. His words against those who misuse positions of responsibility are very harsh by our standards - see Matthew 18:6.

Just know, Graeme, that your whole famly is surrounded by people who care
